Woolly sunflower is a low, mat-forming perennial named for the soft, silvery-woolly hairs covering its leaves and stems – a texture as much as a colour that adds interest to a garden bed. Bright yellow, daisy-like flowers rise just above the foliage from late spring through summer. Well suited to dry, rocky, well-drained sites, it’s highly drought tolerant once established and makes an excellent low-growing addition to a rock garden or dry meadow border, where its flowers draw in bees and butterflies through the growing season.
