Rabbitbrush transplants well if given the right conditions. Choose a sunny, well-drained location—sandy or gravelly soils are ideal. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball, loosen surrounding soil, and plant at the same depth it was growing in the pot. Water deeply after planting, and continue to water regularly until established (usually the first one to two growing seasons). After establishment, it requires little to no supplemental water. Avoid overwatering or rich soils, as this can reduce longevity and lead to root issues. Once settled, Rabbitbrush is highly resilient, thriving in drought, heat, and poor soils.
