Idaho fescue is a fine-leaved, blue-green bunchgrass that forms neat, long-lived tufts to about 30-60 cm tall. One of the signature grasses of BC’s dry interior grasslands, it’s highly drought tolerant once established and holds its colour and shape through the growing season with very little care. Its dense root system makes it a great choice for erosion control and grassland restoration, and it provides cover and forage for wildlife while asking almost nothing of the gardener in return.
