Great northern aster is a native perennial with violet-blue, daisy-like flowers and a bright yellow centre, blooming later in the season when few other wildflowers are still going. It typically grows 30-100 cm tall in moist meadows, streambanks, and open forest edges. As one of the last big nectar sources before fall, it’s an important late-season stop for bees and butterflies stocking up before winter. A great choice for a moist meadow or pollinator planting that keeps blooming into September.
