Dangling suncress is a small, easy-to-overlook member of the mustard family, with a basal rosette of leaves and slender stems of pale, four-petaled flowers in spring. True to its name, the narrow seed pods dangle downward from the stem as they mature. It favours dry, rocky, open sites and disturbed ground. Though modest in size, it’s a documented host plant for the Julia Orangetip butterfly, making it a valuable addition to a native pollinator or butterfly garden despite its small stature.
