Bluebunch wheatgrass is the classic bunchgrass of BC’s dry interior grasslands, forming graceful, arching tufts 30-70 cm tall with distinctive drooping seed heads. Deeply rooted and highly drought tolerant, it’s a foundational species for grassland restoration and erosion control, and an important forage grass for wildlife and livestock alike. Once established it needs very little supplemental water, making it a low-maintenance anchor for a dry meadow or naturalized grassland planting.
